  1. Folks could get more proactive about this oil thing. I ride 250-300cc Motorcycles/Scooters and get 70-80MPG, never deal with traffic jams, and always find a place to park nearby. Seems silly to see several suburbans, explorers, escalades etc. sitting at the onramp every morning with just a single person in them. If half the single occupant vehicles were replaced with motorcycles it would make a significant dent in fuel use, road wear, parking lots, etc. We’d all be talking with our wallet$, the only thing that seems to matter these days.

    1. Scooters or motorcycles are an excellent idea, but here in Omaha I’d be afraid of the drivers around me (6 mos after I got my Civic a guy rear-ended me b/c he was too busy texting to see all the stopped cars all around him). But I know exactly what you mean about the SUVs — some of them are so big I can pass them by driving under them! 🙂 The other thing that we should be working on is GOOD public transportation, but there again, these guys and their SUVs would rather pay $50 to fill up than be surrounded by the unwashed masses on the subway!

You do know that the sludge that is being transported thru these Canadian pipelines is going to other countries … that’s right, our environment is being ruined so TransCanada can ship their crap to China, etc! The big thing I am concerned about with this pipeline is what it will do to our aquifer, but hey, having potable water isn’t nearly as important as TransCanada’s next billion!

      1. Good public transportation was disassembled by GM. They bought all the streetcar systems to sell cars and Buses; the only surviving one being San Fransisco. I know about getting rear-ended, in the McDonald’s drive through in Prescott, WI, I got nailed for the 13th time, the 14th followed a few days later at spaghetti junction, I94 and I35E, in MN. In the Netherlands things are a little safer for Motorcycles, but you are more vulnerable for certain. Alaskan oil is also sold to China, go figure, and then they complain about dependence on foreign oil. It’s a ruse. Greetings.
